China's silk fabrics are well-deserved

The 4th China Textile Boutique Exhibition (South Africa) and the South African International Textile Apparel and Footwear Exhibition were held at the Cape Town International Convention and Exhibition Center in South Africa. The exhibition was hosted by the China National Textile and Apparel Council, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Textile Industry Branch, and the Frankfurt Exhibition (South Africa) Co., Ltd., which attracted nearly 150 exhibitors and nearly 1,000 buyers.

This year's exhibition will be held from June 12th to June 14th. The exhibition will be held concurrently with the African Exhibition, and the scale and influence will be more than the previous ones. The organizers presented a “visual event” for the entire industry chain from upstream yarns, fabrics and garment accessories to downstream garments, leather shoes and home textile products, to sewing equipment.

In the fabric showroom, Mark, a buyer from a well-known local pajamas brand in South Africa, carefully found the fabrics he needed. “China’s silk fabrics are well-deserved.” Mark said, “Our company attaches great importance to the traceability and production process of pajamas fabrics. The show did not disappoint us.”

“This exhibition brought me a lot of new design inspiration,” said Anna, a designer of a fashion women's wear brand in South Africa. One of the highlights of this exhibition was the 15 fashion brand release shows held in the same period. In the new ready-to-wear show, in addition to the design with rich Chinese elements, the finals of the South African Youth Fashion Designer Competition were also released on the spot.

In addition, the organizers learned about the demand for sewing equipment from buyers and professional visitors in South Africa and southern African countries, and added garment sewing equipment to the categories of exhibiting products. Clyde, who runs a garment manufacturing plant in South Africa, has a good harvest: "Our factory has ordered a batch of fully automatic sewing machines made in China and is expected to be delivered to the plant next month."

It is reported that the buyers and professional visitors attracted by this exhibition are from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Burundi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania and other countries. "African elements and Chinese elements have a unique charm in the fashion world. This time, I have a good time to order a batch of clothing accessories, which is worthwhile," said Alice, a fashion designer from the United States.

The South African China Textile Boutique Exhibition was held for the first time in 2016 and its scale has been continuously expanded. It has become an important platform for Chinese textile and garment enterprises to go abroad. On May 30 this year, the African Free Trade Area Agreement came into effect, opening up more space for the exchange and development of the African textile industry and all-round cooperation in the textile and apparel sector in China and Africa. “China is our reliable partner,” local buyer Joshua told reporters.

Lin Jing, the Chinese Consul General in Cape Town, said that he hopes that in the new era of comprehensive and in-depth development of China-South Africa relations, more quality products from both sides will enter the mutual market, so that the two peoples can truly enjoy the dividend of mutual development and win-win cooperation between China and the South. Next year, the 5th China Textile Boutique Exhibition (South Africa) and South Africa International Textile Apparel and Footwear Exhibition will continue to be held concurrently with the African Exhibition, and will invite more exhibitors, buyers and professional visitors.
