US launches the first fully biodegradable fabric

American materials company PrimaLoft announced the launch of the world's first 100% recyclable, biodegradable rayon fabric PrimaLoft Bio Performance Fabric.
PrimaLoft Bio Performance Fabric is decomposed faster by microorganisms than other materials. After decomposition, the material will be completely converted into water, methane, carbon dioxide and organic waste without any pollution to the environment.
Not only that, because this fiber is only decomposed in landfills or in water bodies with microorganisms, this property determines that it is very durable as a fabric.
On October 24th, PrimaLoft reported the first artificially insulating fiber Primaloft Bio, which is made entirely of recycled materials and is naturally degradable.
The new material will be officially launched with the predecessor PrimaLoft Bio Insulation in the fall of 2020. PrimaLoft plans to achieve at least 50% of 90% of its products made from recycled materials while maintaining performance at 2020. PrimaLoft has recycled more than 90 million plastic bottles from landfills and made them insulated.
According to research by the Charity Foundation, about 500,000 tons of plastic microfibers enter the ocean every day through daily washing of plastic-based textile fabrics (polyester, nylon or acrylic). The amount of microfibers contained in global water bodies has reached a considerable amount, and a certain amount of plastic microfibers have also been found in the human body. According to PrimaLoft, the textile industry is currently paying the most attention to marine microplastic pollution caused by fabrics. The new materials developed by the company not only solve the urgent needs of the industry, but also respond to consumers' demand for environmentally friendly products.
