Spider Silk Fabric

A piece of clothing, which can be a good clothing, is closely related to many aspects. The first thing to do is the tailoring of the garment, followed by the fabric of the garment. When it comes to fabrics, everyone can think of many luxury and expensive fabric names, including cashmere. Although the price is high, it is really not expensive. After all, the world's most expensive fabric is not made from animals or silk. It is made from the silk spit of spiders. It requires 1.2 million spider silks to make a cloth. It is expensive, and the output is also high. Very rare, there is only one in the world at present.
The name of this fabric is called the golden spider silk, and its shiny luster is as bright as gold, hence the name. This kind of fabric is actually woven with the silk of the golden silk spider. According to scientific research, the silk spider's silk set is tough and elastic, and the fiber strength is about equal to the bulletproof vest, so it is a natural fiber with good mechanical properties.
Let's return our sight to the golden silk spider. Its silk is golden yellow, which is quite special compared to other spiders. Moreover, the texture and luster of this spider silk are very good, not comparable to the general spider silk. However, the difficulty of collecting this spider silk is not as big as it is.
Because the golden spider is not artificially cultured, the quantity is very rare. The collection of wild spider silk can only be done in the highlands of Madagascar by hand. In this process, everything is handmade and there is no way to help with the help of the machine. After the spider silk is generated, it cannot be harvested immediately. It takes 30 minutes to harvest, and it is only after collecting 1.2 million spider silks to open the back weaving.
So hard and laborious, the cloth weaved is naturally exquisite. As early as 2004, a famous designer was attracted by this golden spider silk. With reference to the record of fabrics produced by French missionaries in Madagascar in the 19th century, the machine for extracting spider silk was reproduced. A businessman teamed up to form a team. It took 5 years to collect 1.2 million spider silks and weaved into a beautiful gold spider silk shawl. It cost 300,000 pounds (about 2.62 million yuan) and was controversial after being exhibited at the American Museum of Natural History. .
Of course, in order to weave this piece of golden fabric, the labor cost is also very high. After all, the spiders mentioned above could not be farmed, so they were all wild. Seven workers spent four years collecting more than one million golden sphere spiders from the poles of Madagascar. A dozen or so workers carefully extracted about 80 feet (about 24.4 meters) of spider silk from each spider and finally weaved it into 11 feet by 4 feet (about 3.35m X 1.2m) of textiles. This is by far the only textile in the world that has been woven from natural spider silk.
In this regard, the textile expert Simon, who is in charge of this project, said that spider silk has very good elasticity, especially the tensile strength can be compared with just Kevlar fiber, many scientific research institutions around the world are trying to copy spider silk. Tensile properties are applied to the medical and industrial fields, but so far, no one has been able to replicate the performance of natural spider silk 100%.
It took four years to make a piece of clothing made of spider silk, which is hard to imagine for many brands and designers. Considering the various costs, the price of this piece of fabric can be expensive. However, when people face this beautiful piece of art made from the spider silk extracted from 1 million spiders, you can feel an unprecedented beauty and tranquility. Perhaps this is the charm of nature!
