China's high-strength organic fiber industrialization

Oct 18, 2019

Heterocyclic aromatic polyamide fiber (also known as F-12 high-strength organic fiber) with a completely independent intellectual property rights and an annual output of 50 tons, achieving continuous and stable production in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. On July 26, experts from all over the country agreed at the appraisal meeting that the overall technology of this achievement has reached the international advanced level and has broad application prospects.

Aromatic polyamide fiber (with better heterocyclic ring performance) is one of the world's three high-performance fibers. It is a particularly important strategic material. It is widely used in defense, aviation, aerospace and civil applications. Currently, only the United States, Japan, Russia, etc. A few developed countries can industrialize production. 46 institutes of China Aerospace Science and Technology Institute, starting from 1994, started the development of F-12 high-strength organic fiber, and solved the synthesis of the third raw material, which is the key raw material for fiber, and developed an annual output of 50 tons of F- 12 high-strength organic fiber low-temperature polycondensation, mixing, filtration, defoaming, wet spinning, vacuum heat treatment, dynamic hot drawing and solvent recovery and other complete sets of process technology and equipment.

The R&D team has overcome the technical problems of manipulating the reaction speed and heat dissipation, heat and mass transfer, etc., and realized 5 (or 6)-amino-2-(-4 amino)phenylimidazole, p-phenylenediamine, and p-phenylene. The polymerization of 5000 liter solution of carbonyl chloride tri-monomer under certain conditions; through the innovative design of the spinning machine, the intensive operation of the single-line 16-spinning wet fabric machine was realized. In the F-12 high-strength organic fiber industrialization technology, we have developed a variety of products, and the performance of the products produced is comparable to that of similar foreign fibers. The R&D team has led the development of the finest 23 tex (weight in grams per kilogram) heterocyclic Nomex fiber in China, with a fiber strength of 4.5-5.0 Gigapascals and a modulus of elasticity of 110-150 thousand. Mega Pascals with an elongation of 2.5% to 3.5%. Through the design of the spinneret parameters and the post-spinning process design, they developed a stable F-12 high-strength organic fiber with a single-line density of 1.1-1.4 tex. The fiber strength is 4.0-4.5 GPa, and the modulus of elasticity is It is 110-150 gigapascals and has an elongation of 2.5% to 3.5%.
